For the past three years, Louise has spent her days helping elderly Ukrainian refugees build a new life in Germany through language learning. Starting with the German alphabet, she has guided her students all the way to an upper-intermediate level.

Yet the lessons have never been only about language.

As trust grew, Louise found natural opportunities to share her faith. Christian celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, Ascension Day, and Pentecost became occasions to explain the gospel and the hope found in Jesus Christ. Week after week, her students encountered not only a teacher, but a Christian determined to share God's love in both words and actions.

Recently, those years of investment produced an encouraging moment.

Two students accepted a Russian Bible to take home.

One was a man from an Orthodox background. The other was Jewish and regularly read the Torah at the local synagogue. Over time, Louise had many opportunities to discuss the Old Testament with him, exploring God's promises concerning the Messiah and pointing to Jesus through the Scriptures he already knew and respected.

There were no dramatic speeches or public declarations. Just two men taking God's Word home with them. But that was worth celebrating.

The seeds have been planted. God's Word is now in their hands. And the God who loves them continues His work long after the lesson has ended.
