Creating Memories

News Stories (5).pngWednesday 04 September 2024 13:42

Summertime often brings with it a feeling of nostalgia. For many of us, we look back on those special weeks spent in the summer heat at camp. Swimming, building fires, games, crafts, drama skits. All of these things make wonderful memories. But above all, many of us heard the Gospel for the first time.

Or perhaps we heard the good news in a way that truly spoke to our hearts.

Every summer, thousands of kids across Europe get to experience just that. This year, on the island of Uglian, off the coast of Croatia, at least 90 children attended the Summer Evangelisation Camp from 30 June to July 7. The following week, 30 more Croatian children attended an English Camp in Novi Marof with the opportunity to hear the Gospel on the final day.

Many of these children come from families who are visiting an established local church or church plant. On the final evening of the English camp, the parents of the children were invited to come for a special program.

Praise God for the trust parents have in the camp and church workers. May they also grow in their commitment to Christ. Let us pray for each of these 120 kids: that they will find a hope and a future with the Gospel, and that through them, their families, friends and many others will be blessed. Perhaps some of these children grow up and serve at camps just like these, remembering the joy and hope they found in God and his Word when they were young. Perhaps even a few of these campers will grow up to serve with ECM too!

And after many weeks and hours of planning, let us pray the camp workers find rest and refreshment for themselves too.
