Pioneer Church Planter for Wismar-Wendorf, Germany
- Type:
- Long term
- Location:
- Wismar-Wendorf, Germany
- Duration:
- 5 years or more
ECM, in close partnership with the Free Evangelical Congregations (FEGN), is working across northern East Germany to plant vibrant, contextual, missional churches in places where the gospel is rarely heard. We are already active in several towns and cities across Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – one of the most secular areas in the world – and we are praying for people who will join us in this long-term vision.
Our approach is simple yet profound:
Live in the neighbourhood. Serve humbly. Build inclusive community. Discover and share the gospel respectfully and faithfully.
Now, we sense the time is right to begin something new in Wismar-Wendorf – and we’re looking for a pioneer church planter to lead the way.
๐ Why Wismar-Wendorf?
Wendorf is a neighbourhood in the beautiful Hanseatic city of Wismar, with a mix of residential blocks and local life. There’s a small church in the area with a heart for evangelism and a desire to partner closely. The opportunity is real: to join the community, build relationships, serve meaningfully, and see new expressions of church begin to take root.
๐ The Opportunity
This is a full-time, long-term church planting role, working with ECM and FEGN as a denomination. You will be joining a wider network of like-minded teams across the region – including nearby Schwerin, Hagenow, and Rostock – who share a passion for reaching the post-atheistic East with the love and truth of Jesus.
Your ministry starts with sharing life. Through everyday presence, friendship, and creativity, you will seek ways to serve, gather people, and explore the gospel together in a way that makes sense in this unique cultural context.
โจ Who We’re Looking For
We’re praying for someone who:
-
Has a strong Christian faith and a clear calling to live missionally in a secular environment.
-
Is ready to move into Wismar-Wendorf, embed themselves in the community, and live incarnationally.
-
Can work independently, start from scratch, and carry a long-term vision with patience and hope.
-
Has cross-cultural sensitivity and a willingness to engage deeply with East German history and culture.
-
Is fluent in German – or seriously committed to learning quickly.
-
Is relational and community-oriented, with a heart for those who are sceptical, searching, or hurting.
-
Is gifted in hospitality, community building, and creative outreach.
-
Has resilience and perseverance to stay the course in a challenging spiritual climate.
-
Is a team player, open to working with local churches and mission partners.
-
Has theological training (Bachelor’s level or higher) and a good grasp of contextual mission.
-
Is flexible, adaptable, and comfortable navigating change, uncertainty, and setbacks.
-
Can manage basic planning, communication, and reporting responsibilities.
๐ Be Part of Something New
This is a strategic and deeply personal mission. Wismar-Wendorf is waiting – not just for another project, but for people who will live among them and love them in Jesus’ name.
If you are ready to pioneer, to trust, to sow – and to see what God might do in Wismar – we’d love to hear from you.
