We are church planting in Piotrkow Trybunalski. We are a group passionate about Jesus. Our other passion is basketball.
Last year’s Jordan Basket Plus opened the door to official partnership with the city’s sports department. Since we work with children aged 8-11 it opens the opportunities to share the gospel with their parents. Now, more key people in town seem to start opening up because of the impact of what they see us doing.
This year we were presented with a great opportunity to take over a space of what used to be a state prison. This unique spot is directly adjacent to our church building!
We have made all preparations to organize a 4 day basketball festival for the local basketball community. The biggest magnet was the fact that we had organized for an American team of university players and their head coach to come, so that the local players could compete against them. Apart from the games there will be FOOD, MUSIC and plenty of time to HANG OUT TOGETHER and TALK about things that MATTER.
The coach, Jon Yeh, worked with us and never failed. It was planned that he would bring 6 players, however, last week he informed us that some of his players dropped out of the team due to personal mishaps (single mom being diagnosed to cancer, another single mom lost their house, etc.) So the team has shrunk to 3 people. We are looking for ways to bring at least 2 more players over, to make sure that the event is a high quality experience for all involved. THE PRESENCE OF THE PLAYERS MAKES A LOT OF DIFFERENCE here in our local context and gives us a unique position in town.
This is not just an event for us; it is the beginning of an annual tradition designed to impact lives far beyond the court.
Why it matters:
This festival is more than a tournament—it’s a platform to build friendships, bless local schools, develop young talent, and make God’s love tangible through joy, generosity and sport. The city’s sports director has already invited us to join future civic celebrations, and momentum is growing.
How you can help:
Much of the project’s value has already been covered through generous donations and partnerships. But due to unexpected changes, we are now looking for an extra push to bring over the full American team. Your support could be the final piece that makes this outreach a lasting impact.
