In fulfilling its mission, ECM is connected with a dedicated missionary circle. To maintain the relationship of trust with our supporters, we want to be transparent about how we handle your personal data.

We are responsible for your personal data. Stichting ECM Nederland (ECM Netherlands Foundation - ECM NL) is responsible for the processing of your personal data and attaches great importance to the careful handling of your personal data. This means, among other things, that we treat your personal data confidentially, that we have taken security measures to protect your personal data from loss, unauthorized access or theft, and that we delete data when we no longer need it for our work.

Times at which we receive your personal data. To enable the spread of the Gospel in Europe, we rely, among other things, on our donors and volunteers, and to be able to mobilize them, we must collect and process personal data. For example, if you make a donation to ECM NL, your name, address, and account number, among other things, will be processed. This data is needed for the registration and further processing of your donation.

Your personal data may also be processed when you use our services. For example, if you contact us via a form on our website, by email or phone, or if you subscribe to a newsletter from one of our missionaries. In this case, we process your phone number, email address, address, and name so that we can send you a confirmation of the proper receipt of your registration. This allows us to offer you targeted and relevant information. We try to take your personal interests into account as best as possible, and you are free to unsubscribe from one or more of our communications at any time.

We use your personal data to fulfill our mission.   • To recruit new donors, missionaries, and volunteers.

  • To enable internal and external control over our services.

To inform you about our work and new campaigns and to ask you for a new donation, ECM NL uses the registered contact details. We only do this if you have given us permission to use these contact details. If you do not wish this, you can let us know at any time by unsubscribing yourself from the distribution list.

If you, as an ECM supporter, have expressed a special interest in one or more of our missionary projects, we will forward your data to the staff directly involved in the project. They will then inform you about the progress of the project. These employees are volunteers who are committed to the project and ECM and are members of a Home Front Team (TFT). ECM has agreed with these TFTs that the relationship data shared with them may only be used to keep you informed and/or to involve you more closely in the progress of the project you are interested in. The TFTs have signed a data protection agreement and undertake to treat your data with utmost confidentiality.

We use personal registration to properly process the preferences of information received about ECM's missionary activities.

As far as known and applicable, one or more of the following personal data are collected:

  • Family name and first names or initials;
  • Salutation / gender;
  • Street name, house number, postal code, city, country;

  • Phone (landline/mobile);
  • Skype address;
  • Contact moments (mail, email, phone calls, etc.)

We process this data on the basis of activities justified by our mission,

and/or;

to implement the stated wish of the donor/interested party for ECM's work.

We collect the financial data of our donors for the proper management of funds for our missionary activities in Europe.

  • IBAN account number;

  • Donation history.

We process this data to assign donations to the donor and the fund and to justify our work,

and/or;

Due to our ANBI status, we are obliged to present this data to the tax authorities in case of an audit.

 

In connection with feedback on our activities, we process various personal data. The table below shows the situation, the data processed, and the basis for processing.

Magazines, donation letters, and newsletters (electronic or otherwise) are sent to donors and employees of our service.

  • Magazines: Europa info is sent 4 times a year; 
  • Fundraising letters: These are sent on average twice a year and only to relevant target groups; 
  • Newsletters: vary per missionary, but on average 4 per year.
  • Family name and first names or initials;
  • Salutation / gender;
  • Street name, house number, postal code, city, country;
  • Email address;
  • Which magazines the person wants to receive.

We collect this data on the basis of activities justified by our mission,

the interest justified by our mission,

and to inform about the progress of missionary work.

We do not use your data for purposes other than those mentioned above. ECM NL does not sell your personal data to third parties. However, we sometimes share personal data within partnerships when this is necessary to fulfill our mission. For example:

  • Companies for the support of mail and/or emails.
  • Internet services (such as CRM and cloud storage). Furthermore, in certain cases, we use IT systems from suppliers, whereby the supplier, in case of maintenance or malfunction, also has access to the system in which your personal data is processed. We have processing agreements with these providers within the framework of the GDPR in the field of data protection and security.

We do not keep your personal data longer than necessary. Your personal data will not be kept longer than necessary. We strive to destroy personal data of individuals as soon as we no longer need it to achieve our goals. Some data is kept because it is required due to a financial and/or tax obligation. After this period, we will ensure that your personal data is carefully deleted.

You have several rights when it comes to your personal data.

  1. You have the right to access your personal data and to request its correction or deletion.
  2. You have the right to object. This means that you can object to ECM NL's use of your data for charitable purposes. For example, the use of your data for our campaigns or other use of your data due to special personal circumstances.

You always have the option to lodge a complaint about ECM NL's use of personal data in a general sense, both with ECM NL and with the Data Protection Authority. If you submit a request, we will first check whether we can process your request. We cannot process your application if we cannot determine your identity or if you have recently (less than six months ago) submitted a similar application. We will process your application as soon as possible, but no later than one month after submission of the application. After we have processed the application, there are a number of situations in which we must reject the application. For example, we must reject a request if the protection of the rights of third parties is more important. This may be the case if your request also contains the personal data of other people. If we reject the request, we will state in writing why we cannot comply with the request.
