Following Jesus and living the gospel through relationships, hospitality, and disciple-making in everyday life.
Camilo Romero and Raquel Rodríguez, together with their three children, are preparing to serve in Catalonia, Spain, with a desire to see people grow as disciples of Jesus through intentional gospel relationships and shared life.
After over 15 years serving in churches and Christian organisations in Spain, they moved to Northern Ireland in 2012 for Camilo to study Theology at Belfast School of Theology (former Belfast Bible College). This season helped deepen their biblical foundation and their calling to discipleship and mission while broadening their experience of church life in a different cultural context.
Over the last three decades, they have served in a wide range of ministries, both as volunteers and in church staff roles. Their experience includes music ministry, deaconate, eldership, children’s and youth work, family ministry, community outreach, evangelism, teaching, preaching, leadership development, small groups coordination, hospitality, vision development, missional development, and mentoring. For six years, Camilo served as Family and Youth Pastor, while Raquel served as Family Worker.
Their journey as a couple has shaped a strong conviction that discipleship grows best in the context of life-on-life relationships. Whether one-to-one, in small groups, or in community context, they have seen how God works through everyday life to transform hearts.
Since 2023, they have been exploring a call to Spain, as believers in both Spain and Northern Ireland sensed the need and began praying for discernment. Step by step, they have seen God opening doors for partnership, particularly in Catalonia. Their initial areas of service will be with the church plant Batec in Sant Cugat del Vallès, engaging in community outreach through gospel music, hospitality, men’s discipleship, youth ministry, preaching and teaching. They will also partner with Exodus España, where Raquel serves on the board, helping develop discipleship resources, lead mission teams, and developing church partnerships across the region.
They believe one of the most effective ways to love God, love others, and make disciples is lived out as the church gathers and scatters throughout the week through open homes, shared life, and faithful relationships. Much of this gospel work happens in ordinary spaces, and they long to see homes become places where people encounter Jesus in everyday life, grow in faith, and learn to follow Him together around the table, and within small, committed missional communities.
